Advanced Modelling Seminar

Australian exclusive for 2010

VNP 971 Perform Modelling

Developers of Clean Language and Symbolic modelling James Lawley and Penny Tompkins are visiting Sydney and have consented to be the expert models for this program

Jules and Chris Collingwood of Inspiritive invite you to attend advanced modelling seminar on 5th - 9th February 2010

Learn to model with the leading NLP modellers Chris and Jules Collingwood
Jules and Chris Collingwood will deliver a five day seminar on modelling - the core activity that defines NLP

During this Seminar you will learn to:

  • To create a specific state for modelling by implicit uptake
  • To enter and leave your modelling state at will or on demand
  • To enhance or change your modelling state as necessary
  • To identify and arrange life lines or personal safety conditions for conducting modelling
  • To plan a modelling project using Grinder's five stage process for NLP modelling:
    • select a model of excellence and prepare yourself to model effectively
    • model tacitly (so that you can demonstrate the skill)
    • test your new skill against the model's standard
    • model yourself and code (describe) your process
    • teach someone else to perform the skill
  • To model in real time, with James and Penny as your experts
  • To use elements of Clean Language and Symbolic modelling with elegance and effectiveness in    your life and work

You will have ample opportunity to model while James and Penny, sometimes alone, sometimes together, demonstrate the processes of symbolic modelling and clean language with volunteers from the group. Unlike a training situation, James and Penny will be free to bring all their considerable skill and experience to each demonstration They will be responding to the presentation of each volunteer, with the most appropriate material for that person. This will give you the opportunity to model unique combinations of advanced processes from Penny and James' repertoire as applied in a series of real situations. You will also have the chance to experience James and Penny's extraordinary work first hand as a volunteer, if you choose. This can be potentially a life changing opportunity and a different perspective for your model.

There will be at least 20 hours of demonstrations for live modelling during this seminar, interspersed with short practical exercise in small groups to give you a glimpse of your developing skills.

Modelling - the heart of NLP

"...modelling is the core activity that defines NLP" (Bostic St Clair & Grinder). John Grinder and Richard Bandler developed the original models of NLP that began the field in the mid seventies. Since then, Grinder has continued with his explorations, he has developed new models of human excellence and simplified, improved and re coded NLP to produce the "new code of NLP".

Advance your modelling skills through the new code of NLP

What is the New Code of NLP

People trained in the New Code of NLP tend to be more effective, natural and ecological in applying NLP in their lives compared with people trained in the classic code. The new code of NLP is an elegant simplification of the essential patterns of classic code NLP, with the addition of some important frameworks. These include:

  • Sorting NLP in terms of modelling, application or training
  • Select and practically apply different codes for descriptions of patterns in NLP
  • Explicit framing of contexts
  • The roles of the conscious and unconscious minds

The New Code has an emphasis on students experiencing and using NLP with the full co-operation of their unconscious minds instead of just talking about it.

Why learn to model?

"Learning to model effectively opens up the possibility of learning anything you want to." Chris Collingwood

As an NLP modeller you will be able to study human excellence at source (people who are models of excellence in any field that interests you).  This seminar offers you implicit or tacit modelling and will enable you to learn as you did before you started school. The difference now, is that you have choice in what and whom you model, and greater refinement in your ability to model.

Don't do as they say: do as they do

Tacit modelling is the unconscious uptake of skill through observation and imitation in the presence of someone demonstrating with excellence. This step is a prerequisite to building an explicit description for transfer. Tacit modelling is essential for discovering new patterns.

The finer your micro-muscle matching of the model's physiology as they perform, the more accurate will your own performance become. In this phase of modelling, you will discover, with live models, how to use your own bodily and mental faculties to match the model's results in a similar time frame. You can bypass years of practice to reach excellence yourself by modelling the model's present performance. Often, the best exponents are unconscious of the essential elements of what they do, so could not teach you by conscious instruction. Equally, those experts who do offer conscious descriptions usually leave out the essential elements because they are unaware of them.

Models

Penny Tompkinss & James Lawley

Penny Tompkins and James Lawley, co-developers of Symbolic Modelling and leading authorities on the use of self-originated metaphor for personal and professional development. They run The Developing Company, are married, and live in Bath in the West of England.

Penny and James?f passion is using Symbolic Modelling to develop the developers of others (therapists, counsellors, coaches, managers and teachers), to research new applications of metaphor, and to continue their own personal and spiritual evolution

Their book, Metaphors in Mind is a comprehensive guide to their approach. Their aim is to facilitate people to see the repeating patterns in their lives, to recognize how these patterns can change, and to trust in the subsequent unfolding of their spirit.

Symbolic Modelling

Symbolic Modelling uses personal metaphors to facilitate clients to work with higher levels of experience - core beliefs, sense of identity and purpose, the spiritual - as well as complex and seemingly intractable issues that are not amenable to traditional techniques. Metaphors and symbols are like threads which weave together to create a continually unfolding tapestry - the fabric of our existence. Metaphors are so fundamental, pervasive and embedded in thought, word and deed that they tend to remain out of our awareness. Through Symbolic Modelling we become aware of the way our metaphors define our experience. Then we can create a model of how our symbolic mind-body-spirit perceptions work together as a perfectly functioning system. This model of self, or Metaphor Landscape, exists as a living, breathing, dynamic, multi-dimensional world within and around us. As we explore this symbolic world it begins to evolve, thereby creating the conditions for a transformative shift in the way we perceive our self and our relationships. And as this happens, our everyday thinking, feeling and behaviour change as well.
